Dog frisbee
Frisbee discs are becoming more and more popular among dog breeders. Advantage of dog frisbee is that the dog always brings the disc back. But the dog has to be taught to do that. There is a danger that the dog gnaws the disc after several hours of active play.
There are two types of competitions in professional dog Frisbee: 1) freestyle and 2) toss and fetch.
Freestyle team can bring its own music and perform any trick without time limits. Only the tricks which include throwing a disc and catching it by the dog are taken into account. If the dog jumped to catch disc and didn’t succeed the throw is not taken into account.
1 to 10 point can be gained depending on difficulty of the tricks. Successful end of the trick is a result of complicated team work. Unique maneuver and jumping talent of the dog are counted as well. But if the thrower sends the dog to the air energetically, extra points are not gained.
In toss and fetch competitions points are gained for each catch of the frisbee within certain time period. Number of points gained with a catch depends on the distance from thrower to the point of catch:
0-20 yards – 0 points
20-30 yards – 1 point
30-40 yards – 2 points
More than 40 yards – 3 points
If all four legs of a dog are in the air at the moment of catch, an extra of half of point is gained.
Finals include a freestyle tour and a toss and fetch tour.
