This war is not just a conflict. This is a full-scale war, the likes of which Europe has not seen since WWII. The front line in Ukraine is longer than the distance from Warsaw to Barcelona: ~2`500 km (October 2022). The area of the occupied territories is greater than the area of Austria and Switzerland combined (October 2022).
Thousands of units of heavy military equipment were destroyed within 8 months of this war. And tens of thousands of servicemen were killed already (as of October 2022).
Like in every war, it is the civilians who are paying the highest price. Millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homes and seek safety in other regions of Ukraine (~3 mln) and abroad (~4 mln). At the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, this number was even twice as large. This is the largest displacement of people since WWII.
Everybody in our flying disc community has personal stories of how the war has affected them—be it losing friends and loved ones, being wounded and deeply traumatized, being forced to tear their family apart by sending kids and wife abroad or losing a home.
